NON PROFIT OR NON PROPHET?
Non Profit or Non Prophet?
By Mary Ann Wray
501 (c) 3 Non profit ministries does not mean non "prophet". Unfortunately many ministries function without this office as part of their ministry mix because the truth a prophet brings challenges the status quo: in ministries and in the saints of God lives. It's much more comfortable to do without them, but is this Jesus' model and will for the church?
His way of ministry found in scripture, challenges most ministry paradigms today as it did in His. The Scribes and Pharisees hated Jesus with a passion and brought false accusations against Him because He went against the grain of "their" way of thinking and conducting ministry. We see this offense with the Pharisees particularly when He operated in the office of a prophet (Matthew 23). He upset their apple cart for sure!
At the end of the day non prophet ministries don't profit or advance God's Kingdom very much. A Prophet works in tandem with an Apostle and together they lay a foundation for new works. We need ALL five offices at work in God's Kingdom and in every local body who believes in the full gospel-not just one,or two, or three and not just four...We need ALL five Ascension gifts at work to have optimum performance.
Just like a large passenger van needs a bigger engine than a four cylinder one to function at its optimum potential, Jesus has given His Church all five Ascension gifts to help us mature and grow to the full measure of the stature of Christ! I thank God the Holy Spirit is restoring this Biblical Pattern in the earth. The remnant church is catching it!
What are we afraid of in our churches by not allowing a true prophet to come to our "house" and inspect our fruit or give clarity and direction from the Heart of the Father? What do we fear: loss of supporters, hidden things that are non productive being exposed or more of the Spirit?
Prophets are few and far between not because they don't exist but because we usually run them off or don't invite them back! I wonder how many spiritual leaders regularly pray for a true prophet of God to enter into their lives who will preach and teach the truth rather than prophesy cushy pillow talk or read what's in somebody's heart back to them like a psychic? This type of thing doesn't elicit any change. In fact it can strengthen mental and spiritual strongholds in a person's life!
The Body of Christ needs true prophetic gifts and voices who will speak the Father's heart, will and intent for a ministry, church, city and nation! God has hidden them in caves of preparation for many years. They are either getting ready to or are already emerging; but will the church accept or reject them? That is the question! Some of them are younger in years than you would expect. Others are grey headed. They typically are unknown by most and definitely secluded from the masses. The nature of their ministry forbids their acceptance by most!
I'm afraid our culture is counter conducive to true prophetic ministry. The church has allowed the counterfeit to exist in her midst too long; either because of a lack of knowledge or deception. As a result we have a distorted view of what true prophetic ministry is really all about.
May the Lord help us to examine the scriptures and see what the prophetic and apostolic is all about. May He give us ears to hear and eyes to see what the Spirit is saying and doing in this hour! May He give us the discernment of the sons of Issachar to truly perceive what He's doing and wanting to do in His Kingdom now!
Lord we pray, "Thy Kingdom Come; thy Will be done in the earth!" Deliver us from the kingdoms men have built and deliver us into your Kingdom in the earth!
Yours for the Kingdom!
